"What Do I Need, Pt 2" | 2 Peter 1:1-11
Update: 2025-07-27
Description
God's ultimate purpose for our lives goes beyond material prosperity or physical health—it's about transforming us into His righteous image. In 2 Peter 1:1-4, we discover that God has already provided everything we need to fulfill His purpose for our lives. This divine provision enables us to be conformed to His likeness, reflecting His righteousness and holiness to the world around us. Peter outlines a progressive path of virtues that build upon each other: faith with virtue, knowledge, self-control, steadfastness, godliness, brotherly affection, and ultimately love. These qualities aren't merely suggestions but essential elements that keep us from being ineffective or unfruitful in our knowledge of Christ. Without actively developing these virtues, we risk becoming spiritually nearsighted, forgetting the cleansing power of salvation. As we diligently pursue these qualities, we confirm our calling and are promised a rich entrance into God's eternal kingdom. The journey begins with a simple desire to know Christ more deeply—a desire that, when surrendered to the Holy Spirit, can transform even the most ordinary person into a powerful witness for God's glory.
